I've tracked and analyzed over 800,000 Ethereum spot trades over the last five days. I wanted to find out who's buying and selling ETH. Here are my highly condensed results:
‣ Out of 830,000 trades, 50.5% were buys and 49.5% were sells.
‣ While the average buy was 0.232 ETH, the average sell was slightly higher at 0.238.
Therefore, overall, ETH shows an equal picture. However, it gets interesting when we examine the bigger orders.
‣ There were only 263 buys with positions between $50,000 and $100,000, but we can see 347 sell orders in this class. That's more than 30% more sell orders!
‣ We see a similar picture when looking at trades between $100,000 and $500,000. With 73 sales, we have ~14% more sell orders than buys.
It is worth mentioning that the tracked trades did not include orders above 500K.
What does it mean?
While the overall numbers show a balanced picture, it seems that bigger guys are slightly more likely to sell ETH currently.
